Sash Window Repair and restoration in Samlesbury
This cottage in Samlesbury, Preston, shows the level of rotting and deterioration that we typically see. Rotted cills are extremely common because this is where rain water and dew will sit. Regular maintenance will help to prevent the rotting of window cills. These windows had not seen any routine maintenance for some years and pictures clearly show that all the timber we were raking out was wet through. Please note this repairing your windows is the most cost effective solution. We believe in sash windows repairs, not sash window replacements. As part of the work here, we;
- Removed all rotting timber, and carried out full lower box replacements to all the windows. This involved removing all the timber in the lower half of each window and doing a load bearing repair on both sides of the window. This gives the window it’s strength and the ability to take all load from the house above it.
- All sashes are planed, repaired, re-glazed and redecorated
- Draught proofing was applied to every window. We replaced all parting beads with new timber alternatives which incorporated an engineered draught strip. Not a piece of plastic in sight!
- All new windows were fitted with new centre lock catches and lifters. We have these available in a number of finishes, including chrome, brass, brushed steel and antique brass.
The repaired windows will make such a difference to the look and feel of the house. The room will feel warmer, be quieter and more aesthetically pleasing.
We can carry out timber sash window repairs across Salmlesbury, Preston, Lancashire and throughout the United Kingdom, so if your windows are in need of some attention, no matter how little, call us today.
