Sash Window repair and restoration in Samlesbury
This quaint farm house in Salmesbury, a small village in the borough of South Ribble had a few heavily damaged windows. There is a clear external view on the images here of a load bearing repair which we have taken from the outside. As part of the whole job here we;
- Removed all rotting timber, and carried out full lower box replacements to all the windows. This involved removing all the timber in the lower half of each window and doing a load bearing repair on both sides of the window. This gives the window it’s strength and the ability to take all load from the house above it.
- All sashes were planed, and repairs, and the five bottom sashes also re-glazed. All window areas were redecorated.
- Draught proofing was applied to every window. We replaced all parting and staff beads with new timber alternatives which incorporated an engineered draught strip. Not a piece of plastic in sight!
- All new windows were fitted with new centre lock catches and lifters. We have these available in a number of finishes, including chrome, brass, brushed steel and antique brass.
The new windows made such a difference to the look and feel of the house. As a result of the work the windows are less draughty, the house feels warmer and there has been a significant reduction the the noise that can be heard from outside.
