Sash Window Renovation in Lancaster, Lancashire
This traditional Victorian terraced home in Lancaster has a beautiful bay window which is typical in homes of this period. This one, was in particularly bad condition; the main sashes were rotten, missing putty had been letting in rain water for sometime and the lower sash boxes and cills were rotting too. Regular maintenance of your windows is not expensive. If you carry out a small inspection every 3 months, to check for missing putting or cracks / gaps appearing in joins, these can be fixed quickly and easily. Don’t wait for the condition to deteriorate. As part of the work here we;
- Removed all rotting timber, and carried out full lower box replacements to all three windows. This involved removing all the timber in the lower half of each window and doing a load bearing repair on both sides of the window. This gives the window it’s strength and the ability to take all load from the house above it.
- All sashes are planed, repaired, re-glazed and redecorated
- Draught proofing was applied to every window. We replaced all staff beads and parting beads with new timber ones which incorporate an engineered draught strip. Not a piece of plastic in sight!
- All new windows were fitted with new centre lock catches and lifters. We have these available in a number of finishes, including chrome, brass, brushed steel and antique brass.
The new windows made such a difference to the look and feel of the house.
